Our Current Release
We think Wedge Travel currently provides an excellent tool to plan your next trip, but you should be aware of the limitations during this initial period. We work on a whole suite of new features and ask for some patience and understanding as we continue to make improvements.
Limited Price Options – With our latest release, you can now shop for commercial fares and get get the best rate for the schedule that meets your stated criteria. The dominant driver for the data we use is the best schedule, not the lowest price over schedule.
Not all the private aircraft – We plan to add more single pilot aircraft in the months to come. If you would like to add your aircraft make and model and have operating cost data let us know.
The prices for private travel vary by region – We know that the retail price for private aircraft that we have in our database varies considerably by region based on fuel prices, pilot costs, hangar costs etc. In time we will deliver regional price options, but for now we base our retail price on the Fixed and Direct Operating Costs for an aircraft operated for ~400 hours per year and then add a ‘retail markup variable’. Let us know prices and we’ll incorporate them in future releases.
Improvement Needed on Links to Airline Booking – During this current release, Wedge Travel is investing in technology to improve the transition from our site to the airline website, including re-verifying the pre-loading of information to the airline website before we send you there.
Browser Incompatibilities – We plan to support more browsers eventually, but for this release, the site is optimized for use with certain browsers. For Windows, we suggest Firefox (2.0 or higher) and Internet Explorer (6.0). For Mac users, we recommend using Firefox (2.0 or higher) and Safari (2 or higher).
Site Performance Issues – This may include site outages, server busy errors, and slow search times. We invested in a limited number of servers for the current release period, and when too much traffic builds up too fast, everything slows down. We are in the process of buying more capacity over the coming months and so site performance should steadily improve. Thanks again for your patience.
